The ‘organic chemistry’ course of Dalian University of Technology is one of the first national high-quality courses, one of the first national bilingual teaching demonstration courses, and one of the first national new century online courses and resource-sharing courses. Organic chemistry is one of the most important branches of chemical science. It is the fundamental course for chemistry, chemical engineering and other related majors. It is not only the basis for students to learn other chemistry courses, but also one of the key courses to cultivate scientific literacy and improve innovation capability. Organic compounds have complex structure, variety, wide application and great charm. Its research focus on the origin, preparation, structure, property, application and related theory and methodology of organic compounds.
This course will introduce the nomenclature of organic compounds, their structural characterization and isomerism, as well as the structures, physical and chemical properties, preparation methods, and other related contents of saturated hydrocarbons, unsaturated hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, heterocyclic hydrocarbons, halogenated hydrocarbons, oxygen containing compounds (alcohols, phenols, ethers, aldehydes, ketones, carboxylic acids and its derivatives, etc.) and nitrogen containing compounds (nitro and amine compounds, etc.). The organic structural theory is introduced in detail and the relationship between structure and property is established. Basic reactions, such as substitution, addition, elimination, rearrangement and the reaction mechanisms and affecting factors are emphatically introduced.
Organic chemistry ( I ) covers basic concepts and basic theories of organic chemistry, as well as sructures, physical and chemical properties, sources, preparations of hydrocarbons and halocarbons. This course will help students master core knowledge of organic chemistry, and cultivate their ability to analyze and solve practical problems in relevant area with the knowledge.
Prerequisite courses: "Analytical Chemistry" and one of "Principles of Chemistry", "General Chemistry", "Inorganic Chemistry" or "College Chemistry".
