课程概述

The curriculum is focused on understanding the changes of water quality during both natural and social cycles, and introduce the principles of technologies utilized to tackle the challenges in practical water treatment processes. Contents of the curriculum include: principles and advances of representative widely utilized water treatment technologies including pre-oxidation, coagulation, precipitation, flotation, filtration, adsorption, redox process, advanced oxidation process, ion exchange, membrane technology, disinfection and control of disinfection byproducts, maintenance and monitoring of water quality in pipe network, etc. It is suitable for both bachelor and graduate students to learn.


授课目标

"Water Quality Engineering I" is one of the important main courses of water supply and drainage science and engineering. The course systematically teaches the water quality and water quality standards, the physics, chemistry and physical chemical treatment process principles of water supply and the water treatment process system, so that students can master basic principles of water treatment process and professional knowledge of water treatment process design and operation management.

Coagulation theory and technology
课时目标:Coagulation and flocculation are important sections in water treatment. We learn the mechanism, kinetics of coagulation and flocculation. Coagulants and equipment used in this process and enhanced coagulation technology are also introduced.

Theory and technology of sedimentation
课时目标:Sedimentation and air flotation are efficient ways to separate the formed flocs after coagulation. We introduce theory of sedimentation, factors affecting sedimentation efficiency, as well as working principles and structure of inclined tube/ plate sedimentation tank, clarifier and air flotation for water purification.
