spContent=“对文化问题的思考,不仅关系到我们的安身立命,也关系到我们对现代世界文明的理解和把握,关系到当代中国经济、社会发展中的许多重大问题的探索和解决” (樊浩, 2009)。本课程作为高校本科基础阶段通识教育课程,介绍中西文化中具有普遍联系和广泛影响的现象,致力于培养学生对中外文化类型与框架的基本认知, 一定的文化修养与英语交际能力,能够思辨性地理解文化的丰富性与多样性,认识文化交流与沟通的重要性,以及国际视野及本土情怀。

课程概述

本课程从探讨文化概念入手,分析中西文化形成的背景与基础,由此引申出对中西民族精神的初步探讨,继而讲述、分析、对比两种文化中具有普遍联系和广泛影响的现象。课程运用平行研究方式,分别从宗教信仰、社会价值、语言与思维、教育实践、绘画艺术、诗歌等角度对中西文化有重点地进行综合考察,以扩大学生的文化知识,提高学生对中西方文化特点的批判理解能力,培养学生跨文化意识及跨文化交流能力。

本课程致力于培养学生对中外文化类型与框架的基本认知,能够思辨性地认识文化的丰富性与多样性,理解文化交流与沟通的重要性,以及国际视野及本土情怀。

本课程具有以下三个特点:

(1) 本课程教学基于综合归纳与演绎两种思维,注重学思结合。采用以教师为主导,学生为主体的启发式、探究式、参与式教学方法,在促进学生对授课内容理解的同时,激发学生对文化现象的兴趣,培养学生对文化问题的分析能力。

(2) 课程采用全英文授课。支持学生开展英文文献拓展阅读,营造自由探索的优良学习环境,激发学生的求知欲,提高学生对文化议题的敏感性和鉴别能力,进而提高学生的跨文化意识和交际能力。

(3) 课程配套《中西文化比较(第3版)》全英文教材,教材由课程组编写,由西安交通大学出版社出版(978-7-5693-3858-4)。教材基于丰富的学术文献资料撰写,分别从文明起源、传统哲学、社会价值、语言与思维、教育实践、绘画艺术、诗歌等角度对中西文化进行分析,各章均设计有思考题,方便学生展开讨论,着重培养学生分析文化问题的能力。

Q : 学习本课程需要什么基础呢?

A : 本课程大学本科基础阶段通识教育课程,没有专业背景和基础要求。课程全英文授课,建议达到或者相当于达到全国大学英语四、六级水平的同学选修。课程也适合英语阅读与听力较好、对文化与跨文化问题感兴趣、希望拓展文化知识与跨文化交际能力的同学。


Q : 如何更有效的学习?

A :  1. 除介绍章外,课程共分八讲,建议大家每周完成一讲的视频学习,灵活选择学习时长和视频学习次数,多次学习,直至掌握;

   2. 课程配套教材由西安交通大学出版社出版,供大家预复习;

   3. 大家可随时参与讨论区互动,学生讨论区参与占课程总分的10%,欢迎大家积极参与。


Q : 讨论区用英文还是中文呢?

A : 讨论区可使用中英双语,目的是解决大家在学习中遇到的问题。本课程英文授课;每个单元的讨论主题是英文,学习者在回复时可根据自己的语言能力切换语种。


Q : 单元测试提交的时间有限制吗?

A : 单元测试提交时间已在系统设置中设置,大家开课后完成测试时,可以看到日期提示,截止日期后将不能提交,请大家务必按时完成。单元测试占课程总分的60%,所以大家一定要保质保量独立完成每一次测试,准时提交。
