本课程选择中西方文化核心话题，共分为十八个单元，采用视频讲座、微课教学以及在线讨论与测试相结合的教学形式。围绕跨文化交际意识、跨文化交际实践与跨文化交际能力评价三个纬度，每单元包括既互相联系又相互区别的三个专题：
1. 文化知识专题。采用视频讲座形式，系统介绍中国及英美等主要西方国家政治体制、历史文化、文学艺术、高等教育、社会生活、宗教活动等，以提高学生对中西方国家民族特性、价值观念、社会结构、人际关系、社会习俗等的认知。
2. 文化比较专题。采用微课形式，以文化双向表达为核心，对中西方文化在某一方面的异同进行比较与分析，以提高学生对文化差异的敏感性和宽容度。
3. 文化探索和实践。采用不同语境下的跨文化口笔语表达工作坊、在线讨论、专题调查、项目报告等线上线下活动。同时，要求学生制作并上传相关活动的视频或文稿，以培养和考查学生在行为层面上完成跨文化交际任务的能力。
本课程结合中国学生的特点，介绍中西方文化基础知识，培养学生对文化差异的感知能力、理解能力和分析能力，从而帮助学生在跨文化语境中，拓宽国际视野，树立全球意识，实现有效沟通，达到特定交际目的。
