课程概述

     大学英语课程是大学生的一门必修的基础课程,是高等学校人文教育的一部分,兼有工具性和人文性双重性质。就工具性而言,大学英语课程是基础教育阶段英语教学的提升和拓展,主要目的是在高中英语教学的基础上进一步提高学生英语听、说、读、写、译的能力。大学英语的工具性也体现在专门用途英语上,学生可以通过学习与专业或未来工作有关的学术英语或职业英语,获得在学术或职业领域进行交流的相关能力。就人文性而言,大学英语课程重要任务之一是进行跨文化教育。学生学习和掌握英语这一交流工具,除了学习、交流先进的科学技术或专业信息之外,还要了解国外的社会与文化,增进对不同文化的理解、对中外文化异同的意识,培养跨文化交际能力。

授课目标

 大学英语课程的目的是培养学生英语听、说、读、写、译的语言技能,同时教授英语词汇、语法、篇章及语用等知识,增加学生的社会、文化、科学等基本知识,拓宽国际视野,提升综合文化素养。

Ways of Learning
课时目标:Students will be able to: 1. Grasp the main idea (that it would be ideal if we could strike a balance between the Chinese and the Western styles of learning) and the structure of the text (introduction of the topic by an anecdote – elaboration by comparison and contrast – conclusion by a suggestion); 2. Master the key language points and the grammatical structures in the text; 3. Appreciate the various writing techniques employed by the writer---comparison and contrast, topic sentences followed by detail sentences, use of transitional devices.

学生应能够基本正确地运用英语语音、词汇、语法及篇章结构等语言知识,在高中阶段应掌握的词汇基础上增加约1000个单词;能够基本理解语言难度中等、涉及常见的个人和社会交流题材的口头或书面材料;能够就熟悉的主题或话题进行简单的口头和书面交流;能够借助网络资源、工具书或他人的帮助,对略有语言难度的信息进行处理和加工,理解主旨思想和重要细节,表达基本达意;能够使用有限的学习策略。对听、说、读、写、译的语言单项技能要求如下: 

    1. 听力理解能力:能够听懂就日常话题展开的简单英语交谈和课堂用语;能够听懂语速较慢的音、视频材料,理解中心大意和要点;能够学习和掌握更多的听力技巧并逐步熟练运用。

    2. 口头表达能力:能够就日常话题用英语进行稍长的交流;经准备后能够就所熟悉的话题做稍长的发言;语音、语调、语法比较符合交际规范。

    3. 阅读理解能力:能读懂语言难度中等的普通题材的文章,领会掌握更多的阅读技巧,掌握中心大意及主要事实和有关细节,阅读速度达到每分钟80词。在快速阅读篇幅较长、难度略低的材料时,阅读速度达到每分钟100词。

    4. 书面表达能力:掌握描述时间、地点、方位的基本表达方式;掌握比较人、物体及事物的基本表达方式;能使用适当的语言形式进行描述和表达观点、态度和情感等;能根据特定目的有效地进行简单的文字表达。

    5. 翻译能力:能够借助字典对题材熟悉、语言难度一般的短语、句子或者小短文进行英汉互译,译文基本准确,无重大的理解和语言表达错误。
