课程概述
课程以最新版《大学英语教学指南》为指导，强调人文性和工具性相结合。课程从北京大学出版社的《博雅英语阅读》第一册和第二册教材中精选12篇文章，涉及“建筑与艺术”、“历史与文明”、“经济与社会”、“哲学与人生”、“人与自然”、“科技与教育”六个主题，旨在通过选文促进学生对不同文化的理解，加强对中外文化异同的认识，以读带写，以输入带动输出，将中外文化相关联、相比较，培养学生对中国文化的理解，提升文化自信；给予学生思想上的引领，情感、人格、审美等方面的熏陶，培养学生的思辨能力，发掘学生作为语言学习主体的自主学习能力。
该课程目标是在高中英语教学的基础上进一步提高学生的读、译能力。具体来说，希望以篇幅长度在1000字左右的线上阅读体验，使得学习者的词汇量大幅度增加，掌握一些词汇积累扩展方法；能够了解、熟悉并运用词汇、语法及篇章结构等知识和一些阅读策略，较好地理解有关通识话题的语言难度属于中上的文章，准确地掌握主旨大意，理解段落之间的逻辑关系、篇章结构和隐含意义；能借助词典等工具翻译体裁较为正式的英文文本，利用课程讲解的翻译技巧，做到中文译文达意，通顺，为今后进行学术英语阅读及交流奠定扎实的基础。
《英语阅读》课程分为12个单元，每个单元下设7个模块，包括课文阅读、背景探寻、语篇分析、阅读技巧、长句解析、词汇积累、中国故事。各个单元之间相对独立，方便大家随时、随地自主选择性学习。
