课程概述
郑州西亚斯学院《大学英语》课程为河南省一流本科线上课程；河南省精品在线开放课程；河南省课程思政样板课程；河南省本科教学线上优秀课程。课程自2020年3月在中国大学MOOC平台上线以来，共有近70所高校的逾55000名师生和社会人士注册学习该课程。
作为非英语专业学生必修的公共基础课程，大学英语课程兼有工具性和人文性。大学英语在线课程分为4个级别，大学英语（1）、（2）、（3）、（4），共24个教学单元，120讲，难度递进。每个单元均以主题为线索，有机融入课程思政元素，带领学生深度思考主题相关话题，培养思辨能力；讲解相关文化背景知识，将语言与文化相结合；分析文章结构、解读文章主旨；系统讲解各类段落、篇章的写作知识和技能。课程倡导大学英语的人文教育功能，将与主题相关的思政元素融入语言教学，实现纯语言教学向“语言+思政”的转变，凸显大学英语铸魂育人功能。课程还配有讨论、随堂测验、单元测试和期末考试，学习者可以边学边思考、边学边测、功能所学。
本课程寓价值观引导于知识传授和能力培养之中，在提高学生英语应用能力的同事，培养学生正确的世界观、人生观、价值观；在了解西方文化的同事，注重体现中华优秀文化，增强文化领悟，树立文化自信，提升学生使用英语对外介绍中国文化、讲好中国故事的能力；帮助学生打开认知世界的窗口，拓宽学生的事业，让学生更深刻地认识世界、理解中国，在东西文化差异的同时培养学生兼容并蓄的胸怀和家国情怀。

知识目标：掌握英语语音、词汇、语法及篇章结构等语言知识，理解语言难度中等的口头、听力或书面材料，了解中西文化差异。
能力目标：培养学生英语应用能力，提高听说能力，增加跨文化交际意识和交际能力，发展自主学习能力，培养思辨能力。
