Gynaecology and Obstetrics as an important part of clinical medicine, is a comprehensive and holistic discipline. The Gynecology and Obstetrics course is one of the compulsory major courses for medical students, on part with Internal Medicine, Surgery and Pediatrics which is specialized in research on female reproductive system physiology, pathological changes and fertility regulation. It can be divided to Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Obstetrics studies the physiological and pathological changes of the pregnant woman, embryo and fetus during pregnancy, labor and puerperium, and prevents, diagnoses and treats pathological changes. Gynecology studies the physiological and pathological changes of the female reproductive system outside the pregnancy period, and prevents, diagnoses and treats pathological changes. This is a compulsory course based on the characteristics of clinical medicine, the syllabus of which was formulated according to the examination outline for medical practitioners. According to the characteristic of each unit, the classroom teaching of the course adopts traditional PPT, case-based CBL and problem-based PBL teaching methods to cultivate students' clinical thinking and decision-making abilities.

Supported by the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics of the Second Clinical Medical College of Wenzhou Medical University, teaching team is certified during first batch of masters and doctoral programs at Wenzhou Medical University. The Department also provides training of the standardized operation of resident physicians and primary physicians. It has a rational age group structure, uses professional titles and dual-teacher mode, and offers rich teaching and practical experience. As early as the beginning of 2000, the teaching team initiated bilingual lectures for students majoring in Gynecology and Obstetrics and was responsible for the teaching of Gynecology and Obstetrics for international students in English in 2010. The team has successively conducted research on such topics as "Experimental Research on the Bilingual Teaching Mode of Gynecology and Obstetrics" and "English Teaching, Research and Practice of Gynecology and Obstetrics for International Students". They have cultivated more than 1,100 international undergraduates, masters and doctoral students from Nepal, Ghana and other countries, accumulating rich experience in teaching international students. The team pays great attention to the building of a talent echelon and encourages young teachers to participate in teaching contests for international students at all levels. The teachers have ranked among the top in provincial and school contests. In 2016, Teacher Lin Min won second prize at the first national MBBS project contest for young teachers teaching in English. The undergraduate course Gynecology and Obstetrics that the team is in charge of was launched in 2017 on a MOOC Platform in Zhejiang Province. It was included in the second batch of excellent online courses in the province and received certification, laying a solid foundation for being launched on the international MOOC Platform.

In the past five years, the team members have won 11 awards in national teaching contests and seven awards in provincial teaching contests, including 13 micro-class contests at both levels. The quality of the micro-class design and production delivered by the team has been unanimously recognized by professional judges at all levels. The heads of the course are leading talents of the national talent support plan (TBC) for scientific and technological innovation, young and middle-aged disciplinary leaders of provincial universities, excellent provincial teachers, etc. In 2017, the course team worked as the chief editing group of Gynecology and Obstetrics, a 13^th Five-Year Plan textbook published by the China Medical Science and Technology Press.
