spContent=Chinese Society and Customs is a English-teaching compulsory course for international undergraduate students. With the teaching concept of combining knowledge learning, ability training and value guidance and student-centered teaching methods, this course can enable students to have the awareness of active learning, to find, integrate, output and correct information, thereby to internalize knowledge, master knowledge, and have the ability to accept cultural differences, to understand special cultural phenomena, to discriminate false information, and to perceive the Chinese spirit.

课程概述

This course is for the foreign students, who study in the bachelor program at the university. The course introduces the aspects of Chinese society, which are related with people's daily life, and the corresponding customs. The main content includes customs of important moments in life, dressing customs, dietary customs, living customs, festival customs, transportation in China and faith customs. By taking this course, foreign students can get a better understanding about Chinese people's behavior, their daily life, their tradition, and the society they are living in, thus a more profound comprehension of Chinese culture. The course will be given in English, therefore there is no requirement for students' Chinese proficiency. 

成绩 要求

The final score of the course is composed of 3 parts: attendance (20%), midterm exam or homework & class performance (30%) and final exam (50%). A final score of 55 points is the lowest requirement to pass the course.

课时目标:In this section students are supposed to know the customs about birth, birthdays including Zhousui, adulthood ceremony and Shou, wedding as well as funeral, which are the most important moments of one's life, of normal Chinese people.
