本课程是在三年制非师范“商务英语”专业下设置的“英语视听说”课程基础上发展演变而来。
“英语视听说”这门课程,在本校的开设可以追溯到1902年建校之初,有师范英语这个专业开始,当时开设“外国语”这门选修学科,“尤重发音,”会话也是主要内容之一。即使是在抗日、解放战争时期,学校虽处于流离搬迁之中,但仍设有英文作为选修科目。解放后一直到文革前期,出现了一定的停滞,但到了1972年,专门开设了英语语音课。从1976年开始,中师英语班开始招生,“英语听说”开始作为一门独立的课程存在,其后不断发展进步至今。多年的成功办学实践,积累了丰富的教学经验,为南通地区的基础教育培养了大批优秀师资,名扬全省。
正因为如此,2000年为了适应时代的发展与社会的需要,学校增设了“商务英语”专业时,其中“英语视听说”作为该专业的主干课程,在教学内容和方法上进行了调整,成功实现了转型与发展,
教学模式的设计将科学的教学理念、教学理论和方法与我国外语教学实际相结合,力求做到“以人为本”,努力实现 “分层次、自主式、个性化”的教学。在现有的条件下,一方面,我们积极探索和创新更为有效的教学模式,充分利用现代信息技术,发挥多媒体教室在优化语言输入的质和量方面的优势。另一方面,对授课活动进行分解,采用讲授和操练相结合,听与说、视听说相结合,提高课堂教学效率。同时,大力开拓第二课堂,将第二课堂活动纳入教学计划和教学评估中,有效地激发和调动学生用英语听说的积极性。在目前实行的教学改革试点中,我们利用校园网络和多媒体教室,将课内、课外英语听说环境,取得良好的寓教于乐的教学效果。
与此同时,也逐步从单课型的研究、单一教材的研发发展到课程总体设计规划、教学双方的研究、教学环境的研究、教学内容和方法对人的综合素养的研究等方面。积极主动地引进和探索科学的教学理念和行之有效的教学手段和方法,将优秀的人力资源与现代信息技术有机地相结合,创造优良的教学氛围和环境,激发和保持学生的学用英语的积极性和学习潜能,取得最佳的教学效果。同时,根据专业和课程特点,增加了实习实训环节,在本地与苏南昆山等地建立了实习基地,帮助学生不断增强专业技能,引领学生走入职场,成为企业需要的、合格的商务英语人才,实现高质量就业。
在开发课程资源,做好常规教学的同时,鼓励学生参加权威性剑桥商务英语证书(简称BEC)考试。该考试由英国剑桥大学与国家教育部考试中心合作举办,以其高度的实用性和权威性,已成为一个全球化的考试,特别注重考生运用英语在商务环境中进行交际的能力,对考生在一般工作环境下和商务活动中使用英语的能力从听、说、读、写四个方面进行全面考察,对合格者提供由英国剑桥大学考试委员会颁发的标准统一的成绩证书。
“英语视听说”被成功立项成为校级精品课程的三年中,对课程资源进行了优化、完善和整合,具备以下部分:课程介绍、负责人介绍、教学大纲、教学课件、教案、重点难点指导、在线作业、试题库、参考资料和课程教学录像等。教学录像部分是全程教学录像,也有部分用微课的方式录制而成,便于采用碎片化的方式组织,录制围绕知识点展开、清晰表达知识框架。如果正式立项为省级在线课程,将对上述所有资源进行进一步的优化和整合,使之更趋于科学完善。
近二十年五年制高职“商务英语”办学的积累,更有百余年师范英语专业“英语视听说”课程建设的雄厚基础,使本校培养的学生表现优异,在全省、全国比赛中屡屡夺得最高奖是最寻常的,在刚刚结束的全国英语演讲比赛江苏赛区高职高专组比赛中,我校汤文欣、姜玲慧、张弛包揽特等奖。通过大学英语CET4考试基本都是100%,约70%的学生通过了CET6。作为入学成绩相对不占优势的非师范英语专业学生来说,取得如此佳绩实为不同凡响。
可以说,本课程更名为“商务英语场景演练技巧与实训”,是在信息化时代背景下对“英语视听说”课程的创新性发展,使之更适应网络教学的特点和学生“碎片化学习”的诉求,相信建成后一定会极大激发学生的学习积极性,达到更理想的学习效果。
单元测试权重20%、课堂讨论权重30%、课后作业权重20%、 课程考试权重30%,按照百分制计分,60分为合格,60分至80分为良好,80至100分为优秀。
